I recently went to Los Angeles and had a really good time but I was hoping it would’ve been more like the LA Riots in 1992, and less like being stuck in traffic and lost in a maze of freeway systems. I remember watching the riots on television when I was 9 years old and wanting to be there. They seemed very cool at the time and still has an appeal to me. I did however have a great time and saw some really good graffiti. I was surprised to see an absolutely huge roller piece by Revok & Nekst. Nekst was killing it in NYC just about the time I left the city and it is good to see from some research on Flickr his work is nationwide, the guy goes absolutely huge.

Whenever I am in Los Angeles I always leave feeling like I didn’t get a good grasp on the place and didn’t really experience it even though I suppose I did, it is such a strange place to me.

And on another note since I haven’t updated in a while, I once remember hearing from someone that everyone in Salt Lake dressed like they were about to go hiking. I thought it was the funniest thing I had ever heard regarding style in Salt Lake. I disagree with this…somewhat, but at the same time I say so be it and copped me a pair of neon accented Nike hiking boots because you will never catch me rockin’ flip flops.

Big ups to my friend Talmage who blessed me with this new low in American Politics mixed with pop culture. I really don’t think this is a good thing for our politicians to be doing, I mean seriously…has everything degraded to the point where the U.S. presidential election is parodied by the candidates as an intro to a wrestling match. Isn’t there serious things going on that make this blasphemous, I mean we are only a country in a pointless war, there is extreme division within the country that is facing major social issues and environmental change…Screw it, I am going to pencil in whoever wins the next American Idol, or some other clown in the limelight of their 15 minutes come Nov. 3rd.

There will be new earrings and necklaces soon for Spring. I need to find another place to supply me with beads and stuff for making jewelry, but so far this place I go to in NY is like the only place like that I can go into and not have to look for like an hour or more to get what I need, all those beads, jewels, and little pieces are enough to make me have a full on attack.

I made it back to NY just in time to catch an incredible springtime, meet up with friends, and do a photo shoot with my friend and fashion designer Farai Simoyi, check out her site HERE and pictures of our recent shoot and previous ones HERE.

The shoot went incredible, the weather was teetering on the edge of a storm providing a crazy sky, and the girls were super cool and fun to work with.

Things got wild this weekend with the grand opening of FICE, a brand new art gallery, shoe & clothing boutique located at 160 E. 200 S. in Downtown Salt Lake City. Several hundred people showed up to see the artwork of Corey Smith and see a live show in the back parking lot. Things got wild once “The Spits,” started playing. American flags were getting burned and a bottle of whiskey was being passed around the edge of the mosh-pit. I made it to the roof for safety just before the police showed up for noise complaints. So big ups to FICE for starting what looks like a summer full of mayhem and fun.

I have been riding my bike a lot today. I also went to a bakery today and drank coffee out of a beer stein. I had to order it 3 times and they brought me the wrong size and it came in a beer mug. People in Salt Lake are basically retarded when it comes to coffee outside of coffee shops. If you don’t drink it, don’t sell it. It also bothers me that I can’t get a beer with my lunch at like everywhere I go…Restaurants without alcohol are LAME.

Dank Squad! These kids have some real nice T-Shirts and hoodies for sale and are coming up quick in Salt Lake City’s world class snowboarder scene. They also have their hands in about everything from music, clothing, snowboarding contests, skateboarding, and they make videos of all this stuff. I shot with them a little while back and am helping them with some stuff on their website, there will be future colabs, but check out what there is now at www.danksquad.com
